Kristy has been with the firm for over 14 years, and has been a shareholding member of the firm for over 7 years.   Prior to working at the firm, Kristy clerked for Hon. Justice Michael J. Wilkins where she assisted the judge in researching and drafting appellate opinions in many areas of law including personal injury and workers compensation.  Kristy has practiced in Utah’s district, appellate and administrative courts and has handled hundreds of injury cases to decision and has monitored many personal injury subrogation cases for her workers compensation clients.   A significant part of Ms. Bertelsen’s practice involves the recovery of workers compensation liens in personal injury cases for employers and carriers as well as representation of petitioners and defense of workers compensation claims.  Kristy has also drafted significant numbers of appellate briefs and other legal documents to the appellate courts of this state and enjoys researching and writing in all legal forums.  Kristy is well versed in medical terminology and review of complex medical cases and has a dedicated staff that helps in preparing medical and trial exhibits.  Kristy has published articles in both the Utah Law Review and other Bar Journals.  Kristy is a member of the Utah Bar Association, has spoken and taught injury law professionally, and is admitted to practice in all state and federal Utah courts.
